Manuscript and Editorial Services

If you google “manuscript assessment” or “editorial services” there are numerous companies and individual providing these services for varying prices.

The idea is that once you have written your manuscript you get an “expert” (define term loosely) who will check over your work before you make bulk submissions to literary agencies. Alternatively, you might have received too many rejections and want a fresh perspective on your work. The concept is very appealing and of course there are lots of success stories whereby published authors have made “it” with a little help from these services.

There is nothing wrong with this at all but how good are they really? They can be expensive and time consuming.

Here you will find a list of services and unbiased reviews of the ones we have personally tried ourselves (i.e. we paid for it ourselves and submitted our own manuscripts for review).

If there is anything you would like us to review before you try it let us know. We will break the piggy bank so you don’t have to (unless it’s worth it of course!)

  1. This is super useful information. I have always wondered if it was worth it as £225 is a lot of money for me. Have you tried any of the other Writers & Artists services?
